As we mentioned in last week’s article, loss prevention and a strong safety program can go a long way in avoiding claims situations and/or shortening the time period for addressing causation. Conversely, if an employer has not actively addressed COVID-19 exposures in their safety program, the frictional aspect and costs of the claim process will likely increase. Employers who have developed a formal Infectious Disease Plan will be better equipped if/when they experience their first claim, and a stringent claims intake process is an important aspect of this. In this article we address the claims intake process and include some additional key considerations to improve outcomes.
